One of the best parts of visiting Castle in the Clouds is the variety of fun, interesting things to do. It starts as soon as you get out of your car with a vintage trolley ride up to the main part of the estate. It is there that you will explore our premier historical museum the 1913-1914 Lucknow Mansion, which was originally the home of Thomas and Olive Plant. Most of their original furnishings, along with some of Olive’s clothing, are on display. It also features innovative fixtures that were unheard of at the time, such as a central vacuuming system and needle showers. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely self-guided or informational guided tour of the main living floors before heading to the basement for a 45-minute guided tour that provides a glimpse into the lives of servants who worked at Lucknow Mansion. Step outside into the magnificent gardens or head to the Carriage House Gallery Exhibit, currently featuring “Lucknow’s Laborers: The People Who Built and Cared for Tom Plant’s Estate.” There are also trails to hike, more than 200 exciting programs and events, and a meadow available to rent for special events and weddings.
